Newsletter - Fall 2008New Peace Education Curriculum Now on Sale! One of our greatest achievements this year is our peace education curriculum called "Peace Begins in Me". Written and published by a team of educators and PeacePal staff who worked over the summer to develop a comprehensive 18-week curriculum with two lessons per week. Each lesson has at least one activity for students to put in conjunction with the Peace-Pal international letter writing and can be repeated each school term. Lessons teach peaceful communication skills, local and global diversity, conflict resolution and the study of world peace builders living today. Schools will appreciate that required academic standards have been matched with each lesson, making the curriculum easy to implement in the school day or as an after school activity. Following is an excerpt from the introduction of "Peace Begins in Me": "In the midst of life's whirlpool of change, there are a few things which appear to remain constant: One is the universal desire to love and live in peace, and another is a universal pull toward conflict. Even those of us who intend to live peacefully find ourselvesdismayed and heartbroken at times following an experience of conflict, wondering "How did that happen?" Life's most important skills are usually not taught: how to really love and be loved, how to be a parent, how to be a compassionate listener, how to be patient, how to create peace." If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the "Peace Begins in Me" curriculum, please contact us. The cost of the curriculum is $75 each per color copy, or $50 each per black and white copy. Income from this goes directly to the printing of the curriculum as well as the implementation of the letter writing program. View sample curriculum material:
