As PeacePal celebrates its second anniversary, the organization is marking its transition from terrific two to thrilling three with a new theme that even more clearly captures its mission, “Peace Begins in Me: What One Person Can Do.”
“It was important to us to emphasize that peace begins ‘in’ each of us, instead of ‘with’ us,” said Project PeacePal founder and director Sarah Wilkinson. “Our focus is on getting kids to realize that a peaceful world starts with peaceful people – and that means understanding what respect, conflict-resolution and empathy mean in your own life so that you can bring that to your interactions with people from all walks of life.”
Wilkinson said that Project PeacePal Board members worked collaboratively to fine tune the theme and hone the organization’s message. “In a world where it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless, we wanted to emphasize that we each have the power to do great things. One person can touch your life and change it forever. A single letter from one child to another child who is a hemisphere away can open minds and open hearts, creating a ripple effect that impacts generations to come,” said Wilkinson.
Peace begins in you, too, and you can do something to help create a more peaceful planet by supporting Project PeacePal with your time, talent or treasure today! |
